SUMMER PRODUCTIONS

Voiceworks started producing musicals in the summer of 2015 a result of seeing a need for affordable local theatre opportunities for young people in the Ballymena area. It was a huge risk at the time but has proved to be one worth taking as we move into our ninth year (2024).

 

Every year, from 2015 to present, the Voiceworks team open auditions to the public and not just the theatre school students keeping with its grass roots in the community. The need has grown, and we now see approximately two hundred youth attending auditions every year. We have also introduced a junior musical to cope with the growing demand and giving each age group a chance to shine and grow. ​

 

When do we release the shows every year?

We usually announce productions in January on our social media pages and hold auditions during the Easter holidays. The summer production for Juniors age 6-14 usually takes place the second week in July and runs for a week. The senior production generally rehearses over a two-week period and this runs from the last week in July with the five shows finishing in the second weekend of August. The senior musical age acceptance can change according to the rights and choice of show but is aimed for ages 14- 21.

We encourage participation from all level of experience and will fully support all young people through the preparation and audition process. A full audition pack is sent to parent/students to explain the process, the cost and rehearsal dates for each show after the initial registration is received.
